Finally…a well formed argument for the Strength of Schedule debate…

It’s about time someone stood up for Kansas and argued that while everyone seems to jump on the “Cupcake Schedule” bandwagon, there wasn’t alot that KU could control in the situation. And on top of that, the schedule wasn’t as weak as the ESPN blowhards said it was.

  1. Everyone talked about the K-State game and how it would be the first road challenge. KU wins 30-24
  2. Okay okay…now they have to go play Colorado on the same field that OU lost on. KU wins 19-14
  3. Alright this will be their big test…they have to go to A&M and beat the Aggies and their 12th man, that will be a HUGE test. KU wins 19-11
  4. You’re right…those teams really aren’t that good. Okay…how about beating Okie State on National TV. We’ll see how you do with that. If you do that, you’re a legitimate contender. KU wins 43-28

Funny how KU didn’t really gain any respect from anyone because they just assumed KU would lose one of those games and they could write them off. It took a 1 touchdown loss to Missouri on a neutral field for them to finally act like KU didn’t exist. It’s still amazing to me how an 11-1 team doesn’t even get mentioned in the National Championship conversation. How is that even possible when Georgia gets mentioned at every turn? They didn’t win their conference either but for some reason, they still get mentioned.

You can argue all you want about KU being 8th in the BCS and jumping over a #6 Missouri team. The fact of the matter is that KU was #5 in the BCS and then after an idle week when Ohio State moves UP 2 spots, KU moves DOWN 3 spots. That’s pretty ridiculous if you ask me. Especially for an Ohio State team that played in a WEAK Big 10 conference and had a SAD non-conference schedule as well.

I would LOVE to hear someone explain that to me.
